Flagship SUV promises high-end tech, luxury features and competitive pricing

The Jaecoo 8 - the Chinese brand’s new range-topping SUV - is set to arrive in the UK next year, positioned to take on models like the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.

A Jaecoo spokesperson confirmed the launch after several UK dealerships listed early advertisements for the model online. Sitting above the existing Jaecoo 5 and 7, the 8 will be the brand’s largest and most premium SUV yet.

While UK specifications haven’t been finalised, the Australian version – also a right-hand-drive market - comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 245bhp and 284lb ft of torque. Buyers can choose between front- or four-wheel-drive, both paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Top trims add adaptive suspension for a smoother, more refined drive.

Inside, the 8 focuses heavily on technology and comfort. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen powered by the same Qualcomm processor used in some Volvo and Polestar models. Other highlights include a head-up display, massaging driver’s seat, 14-speaker Sony sound system, and ambient LED lighting across the cabin.

Depending on the market, the Jaecoo 8 will be available in five-, six-, or seven-seat layouts.

UK pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s expected to cost more than the Jaecoo 7 (from £30,115) while still undercutting European rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq, which starts at £39,905.
