The new Kia Picanto range will go on sale next month and before the first cars arrive at UK dealerships Kia have added a new ‘1 Air ‘model to its new Picanto line-up.
The new Kia Picanto takes its platform and engines from Hyundai's highly acclaimed i10 and serves as a long overdue replacement for the previous version of the city car. The new car is 60mm longer than the one it replaces and has a 15mm longer wheelbase. It is available from launch as a five-door model, with the three-door following later in the year.
The interior has been updated with a silver strip running around the heating controls and over the glovebox. It has ‘big car’ comfort and convenience features, it will be available with automatically controlled air-conditioning, electronic and heated folding door mirrors with side repeaters, automatic light control with ‘escort’ and ‘welcome’ modes, steering wheel mounted audio controls and retractable dual cup holders
The 1 Air adds manual air-con to the basic "1" specification of the 1.0-litre model. Kia says that all technical details of the model (acceleration, top speed, fuel economy and CO2 emissions) remain unchanged.
The full Picanto range goes on sale on June 17 and the 1 Air attracts a £600 premium over the basic model's £7,995 list price. First deliveries of the 1 Air will take place in September.
