Lorry Falls 18 Metres from M6 Bridge in Cheshire

A lorry fell 18 metres (60ft) from the Thelwall viaduct on the M6 in Cheshire, between junctions 20 and 21. Fortunately, the driver is not thought to have sustained serious injuries.

The accident occurred around 6:50 pm on Monday, when the lorry crashed onto the embankment below. Firefighters used specialist equipment to access the driver, while crews also cooled the lorry and contained a leak of roughly 1,000 litres of fuel.

Due to damage to the barrier, three northbound lanes will remain closed until further notice, though one lane will stay open with a reduced speed limit.
