The MINI brand still remains a big statement in a small package and, as summer is rapidly approaching, a sassy new Sidewalk edition is being launched. The MINI Convertible remains the best selling convertible car in the UK and this new special edition just made it even more desirable.
The Sidewalk Edition is a limited run of just 150 vehicles in the UK, all of which have an exceptionally high spec as well as unique identifying features that set it apart from the rest of the models in the showroom.
On the exterior, the Sidewalk comes in a ‘Deep Laguna’ metallic paint with unique bonnet stripes which are flanked with pinstripes. Door entry strips and the arrow-design on the soft-top roof are also completely unique. The Sidewalk comes with new 17-inch light-alloy Scissor Spoke 2-tone wheels as standard.
Inside, the fun continues. This MINI comes with the Navigation Plus Pack and 8.8-inch touch screen display as standard. This displays your in-car entertainment as well as the Satellite Navigation and Real-Time Traffic Information. Amazon Alexa and Wireless phone charging are also standard-fit. The comfort plus pack then adds heated seats as well as a rearview camera which has parking distance control at both the front and the rear… not that you’ll struggle to park this thing, it is still a MINI after all.
In terms of interior styling, you’ll notice the Sidewalk uses a new sat design which will be rolled out across the MINI range. All Sidewalk models feature full leather with “Sidewalk” seat badging and contrasting seams. Another “Sidewalk” logo shows itself at the bottom of the leather steering wheel.
Naturally, this convertible MINI comes alive when the sun is out. Every model is fitted with a high-tech Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi system, heads-up driving display, and wind deflector, so you can get the most out of driving around with the roof down.
Under the bonnet sits a 192 horsepower Cooper S engine which features MINI’s twin-power turbo technology and is mated exclusively to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with steering wheel paddles and a double-clutch mechanism ensuring slick and sporty gear shifts.
You won’t see any of these Sidewalk models out on the streets just yet as production doesn’t start until March 2020 with the first deliveries expected not long after that. You can, however, order a new model now from your local dealer. Prices start from £34,215 but you’ll have to be very quick because as we mentioned, there will only be 150 arriving here in the UK and the MINI is a hugely popular car with a cult-like following… We reckon these will sell like hotcakes.
