TL;DR The upcoming electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will feature a technology-focused interior with up to three digital screens, including an optional display for the passenger. Drivers will also get physical rotary controls to adjust throttle response, handling and traction settings. The car is expected to take inspiration from the powerful Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept, which produced 1,340bhp and previewed the performance potential of the new model.
The upcoming fully electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is shaping up to be one of the most advanced performance cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. Based on the latest preview, its interior will focus heavily on digital technology.
At the centre of the dashboard are two large displays. Drivers get a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, while a 14-inch infotainment screen manages navigation, media and vehicle settings. The infotainment display is angled slightly towards the driver to make it easier to read and operate while driving.
Buyers can also choose an optional third display for the front passenger, measuring 14 inches. This allows the passenger to interact with media and other digital features independently.
Rotary controls for performance settings
Despite the focus on screens, AMG has kept some physical controls. Three rotary dials allow drivers to adjust key aspects of the car’s performance.
Response Control adjusts how quickly the electric motors react to accelerator inputs. Agility Control changes the car’s cornering behaviour. Traction Control offers a nine-stage slip control system to manage grip and stability.
These controls aim to give drivers a more engaging experience, especially during spirited driving.
A cabin designed for performance
The rest of the interior follows a familiar high-performance AMG theme. The seats feature extra bolstering to support occupants during hard cornering, while the AMG steering wheel includes integrated performance buttons.
In the rear, the car offers two sculpted seats as standard, with the option of adding a third passenger if required.
There is also a switchable panoramic glass roof, allowing drivers to adjust how much sunlight enters the cabin.
Luxury materials and customisation
As expected from a high-end Mercedes, the cabin is designed to feel premium. Buyers can choose from a range of materials, trims and lighting options.
Features include diamond-quilted upholstery, ambient lighting and high-quality finishes, giving the interior the luxury feel typical of modern Mercedes performance cars.
Performance inspired by the AMG GT XX concept
Exact specifications for the production model have not yet been confirmed. However, the car is expected to draw heavily from the Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept.
That concept featured three electric motors producing around 1,340bhp, along with an 800-volt electrical architecture designed for extremely fast charging. It also had a claimed top speed of 223mph.
Expect artificial V8 sounds
Despite being fully electric, AMG wants the new car to retain the emotional appeal of its traditional performance models.
According to AMG boss Michael Schiebe, the car will include simulated V8 engine sounds and artificial gear shifts to recreate the feel of a combustion-powered AMG.
The aim is to preserve the brand’s character even as it moves further into the electric era.
