The new Hyundai i20 Comfort is now available with no VAT. Well, technically this regrettably familiar tax is still payable to the exchequer, but an equivalent 20% has been taken from the vehicle's already pint-sized price tag. This reduces the price for the three- door version to only £8,809.16, and the five-door variant now comes in at £9,200.83. This represents a wallet pleasing saving of £1,750.84 and £1,829.17 respectively. Good stuff.

The Hyundai i20 Comfort is a supermini class machine, so it rivals vehicles such as the ever-popular Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta. Whereas it arguably lacks the fashionable status of these rivals, this capable urban run-around has its virtues. These include the confidence inspiring handling, a proven reliability record, low running costs, a five-year warranty, and enough gadgets to keep James Bond smiling until sunset.

So, the new i20 Comfort is a likeable vehicle for cash smart motorists 'in the know'. It suits those who favour ease of ownership and practicality above fashion and style. Not that there is anything wrong with the Hyundai's memorable looks. Oh, and there is certainly nothing wrong with its rock-bottom price. No VAT? That suits me just fine.
