Police officers in Lincoln faced embarrassment after managing to get their squad car stuck on a bollard.
The officers' Peugeot 4x4 was seen perched atop the obstacle while entering a pedestrianised area of Lincoln town center. The exact cause of the mishap remains unclear, but the damaged front end of the vehicle, lifted into the air, suggests a high-speed collision with the bollard.
The incident quickly became a source of amusement online, with many users mocking the officers' unusual parking choice. One commenter quipped, "Should've gone to Specsavers."
Images of the patrol car show it suspended by the bollard, with the front wheels lifted off the ground. It appears the car struck the fixed bollard and ended up resting on top of it after attempting a right turn onto the closed walkway.
Photos also show debris from the police vehicle scattered across the street, likely torn off by the impact. The car was left stranded and damaged, with no officers present to manage the traffic incident, leaving bystanders puzzled.
The incident was shared on social media with the caption: "Just over an hour ago in Lincoln town center. Just turning onto the pedestrianized area." The post received over 175 likes and more than 40 comments, many poking fun at the officers.
One user remarked, "Now send to [the] relevant police force to raise a concern of someone not driving with due care. Big brain time." Another commented, "That's going to be some paperwork, I tell you." A third added, "Shame I don't have one of those cards 'You parked like an a**e', I need to buy some of those." Another joked, "I hope he didn't spill his brew whilst trying to arrest that bollard." A fifth noted, "Now that's not only off-road but above pavement. The proverbial might actually fly."
Lincolnshire Police confirmed, "This incident happened at around 1.40pm on Wednesday afternoon, and the vehicle was removed a few hours later. There were thankfully no injuries and no other vehicles involved. Apologies for any inconvenience on High Street."
