A new Ford Escort-inspired restomod has been unveiled at the prestigious London Concours event, carrying a starting price of £295,000 and setting a new benchmark for one of Britain's most iconic cars.
Each example features two bespoke crash helmets finished in a striking green and gold livery to match the car's exterior design. When not in use, the helmets can be neatly stored in a dedicated rear compartment located behind the racing seats.
At £295,000 per vehicle, the price comfortably surpasses the current record paid for an original Mk1 Ford Escort. That record was set in 2023 when a meticulously restored 1975 RS2000 sold for £108,000 at the Iconic Auctioneers NEC Classic Motor Show sale after undergoing a painstaking five-year restoration programme.
Production will be limited to just 150 cars globally, adding to the model's exclusivity. A number of left-hand-drive versions will also be built specifically for the US market, where prices will start at $400,000.
The combination of limited production numbers, bespoke craftsmanship and modern performance engineering positions this Escort as a collector's item aimed at enthusiasts looking for a contemporary interpretation of a much-loved classic.
