Tesla unveils hands-free driving with Full Self-Driving update

Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is gearing up for a new update. Version 12.4 is set to roll out soon, introducing a significant change: the elimination of the visual and audible alert when drivers don't maintain sufficient pressure on the steering wheel.

Tesla's FSD system stands out as one of the most advanced on the market, allowing the car to handle many roads autonomously while the driver acts as a monitor.

Despite its impressive capabilities, one aspect that has drawn mixed reviews from users worldwide is the requirement to continually apply force to the steering wheel during longer stretches, which can feel intrusive on extended trips. After conducting various tests and considering user feedback, Tesla is now poised to replace this steering wheel alert with an internal camera that monitors the driver's attention by tracking their eyes on the road.

Elon Musk confirmed this update in a recent post on X:

However, we strongly advise staying vigilant and maintaining concentration while driving, even with FSD.

In another social media post, Musk hinted that removing the dashboard alert is just one part of the upcoming FSD changes.

In addition, the system will now adjust acceleration and braking for smoother transitions, enhancing overall comfort—a modification also requested by millions of users worldwide, according to the CEO.
