The World Car Awards are back for 2020 and the nominees have been announced. Today we’re looking at 5 of the cars nominated for the World Luxury Car Award. This award is decided on which car is offering the most delightful amount of luxury features and styling. Expect SUV’s, fast cars, electric and coupe’s to be judged alongside one another. As expected, the German manufacturers dominate this category, but which of the following cars gets your vote?
Porsche Taycan
This is the first-ever all-electric vehicle for Porsche, making it a very desirable choice for drivers. The performance figures are mind-blowing. The ‘Turbo S’ model will do 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds thanks to a massive 751 horsepower, and it will return up to 256 miles on a single charge. Prices start from £115,858 for the non-Turbo-S model.
Porsche 911
The launch of the latest 911 cabriolet brings new levels of sophistication and performance. The fully-automatic soft top has an integrated glass rear screen and magnesium ‘bows’, all combining to prevent the roof ballooning at high speeds. Below 30mph, the hydraulically operated roof opens in just 12 seconds, giving drivers the 911 open air experience. The exterior boasts a muscular design, with wide wheel arches housing 20'' wheels at the front and 21'' wheels at the rear.
The 911 Cabriolet uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged ‘boxer’ engine producing 450hp. Performance is, therefore, intense, rocketing to 62mph in just 3.9 seconds, and hitting speeds of up to 190mph. Prices start from £102,755.
Mercedes-Benz EQC
The new EQC is the first model Mercedes have released under their new all-electric ‘EQ’ range, The EQC is rather a large SUV, and my goodness is it a good car to look at, it’s a modern Mercedes, so the interior is straight out of a spaceship too. This has 408 horsepower and is good for up to 259 miles of range on a single charge, and it can top up to 80% charge in about 40 minutes. The Mercedes Benz EQC is priced from £65,720 for a well-equipped model.
BMW X7
It was only a matter of time before BMW threw everything they had into producing a massive 7 Seater SUV. This really is a rolling showcase of the very best that BMW is capable of. The interior of the new X7 is a level above the already decadent 7 Series. All X7s come with 3 rows of seats, however, BMW provides the option of having the central row reduced to two armchairs instead of a row of seats, giving passengers room to stretch out. As you would expect, the X7 demands a pretty steep price. The entry-level model starts from a £72,315, with a huge list of equipment as standard.
BMW X5
The X5 really is something to behold.
