Tom Cruise is permanently banned from buying a Bugatti, and here's why

You’d think that with his success, Tom Cruise could buy any car he wants, but apparently, Bugatti is off the table.

Don’t start worrying about Cruise’s bank account, though — it’s not about money. If you’re not too familiar with luxury cars, Bugattis are insanely rare, and owning one isn’t just about having the cash.

The real reason Cruise can't buy one? He got banned by Bugatti. Yep, the car brand actually decided to block him after a public mishap. Not many companies would have the nerve to ban one of the biggest stars in the world, but here we are. Bugatti’s known for making some of the fastest cars on the planet and having strict rules for its customers.

Owning a Bugatti isn’t just about shelling out millions for the car (prices range from $3 million to $12.5 million). You also need to drop around $21,000 a year on maintenance — more than some cars cost outright — and you’re expected to swap out the tyres every 10,000 miles.

So, what did Cruise do to land himself on the banned list? It all goes back to the 2006 Mission: Impossible 3 premiere. Cruise struggled to open the passenger side door of his Bugatti Veyron, where his then-wife Katie Holmes was waiting. She eventually got out, but the whole thing was awkward enough for Bugatti to make a move.

The brand didn’t want anything that embarrassing happening again, so they banned him for life.

But don’t feel too bad for Cruise — he’s not the only one banned from Bugatti. Other celebs like Floyd Mayweather, Flo Rida, Simon Cowell, and Jenson Button have also been kicked off the list.
