Denza – BYD’s premium sub-brand – is bringing a bold, winged two-door supercar to the UK next year.
The car first appeared as a concept at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, and now BYD’s vice-president, Stella Li, has confirmed that a full production model will make its way here.
Denza is already set to launch in the UK in spring 2026 with the Z9 GT, a rival to the Porsche Taycan. The new sports car, shown in Shanghai as the “Z”, will arrive soon after.
“We’d like to invite you to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next year to experience the Denza Z,” Li said. “We’re keeping the powertrain details secret for now, but you’ll get the chance to see what it can do.”
Should Porsche, Aston Martin and McLaren be worried? Maybe not quite yet. The Z probably won’t use the insane 2,978bhp setup from the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, but the Z9 GT already packs a tri-motor system with 952bhp and 848lb ft of torque – far from slow.
“Our technology is a real ‘wow’,” Li says. “The Z9 GT has made a big impact in China. When other premium brands launch new models, they usually just add more power. That’s not exactly revolutionary.”
She also highlights that the Z9 GT can crab-walk, park itself and use BYD’s upcoming 1,000kW ‘flash charging’ system, which can add nearly 250 miles of range in five minutes. It’s likely the new supercar will share much of this tech.
The plan is for the car to go on sale in the UK towards the end of 2026. Though we imagine Nissan may have a few opinions about the name “Z”…
