This period is always eagerly anticipated by fans who are eager for their F1 fix following the conclusion of the previous season, fostering renewed optimism for every driver. In a rare occurrence in F1's 74-year history, there have been no driver changes during the off-season. However, expectations are high for a more competitive field after Max Verstappen and Red Bull's record-breaking year.
Some teams have opted not to introduce entirely new cars for the upcoming season, a trend that is likely to continue. Nevertheless, during the car launch, spectators can still anticipate the introduction of new aerodynamic components, particularly if a team has chosen a revolutionary approach over an evolutionary one.
F1 pre-season testing is scheduled to occur from Wednesday, February 21, to Friday, February 23, at the Bahrain International Circuit. Teams will have just three days to fine-tune their preparations for the forthcoming season.
The first race of the 2024 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, is set to kick off just one week later, running from February 29 to March 2. Due to the Muslim holy period of Ramadan, both the Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, taking place seven days later, will be held on Saturdays.
This scheduling adjustment means that practice sessions one and two will be conducted on Thursdays, while the final practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Fridays.
