Government data, analysed by Claims.co.uk, has revealed what postcodes have the most drivers with points on their licences, making them “the most dangerous in Britain”.

Where are the UK's most dangerous driving postcodes?

If you live in or around Plymouth’s PL3 area, be extra careful on the road. While your driving might be flawless, your neighbours have racked up more penalty points for driving offences than any other postcode in the UK.

Government data, analysed by Claims.co.uk, shows that 13.09% of PL3 drivers have points on their licences, making them “the most dangerous in Britain” according to the company. This high number could be due to strict policing or active speed cameras, but either way, there are a lot of problematic drivers in the area. 

Following closely are drivers in LS9 (Leeds) with 12.74% having points, BD3 (Bradford) with 12.56%, PA36 (Bridge of Orchy) with 12.5%, and LS14 (Leeds again) with 12.48%. The small PA36 postcode in Scotland, home to just 40 licenced drivers, has 5 of them with points, making it the fourth worst in the UK.

On the flip side, Guildford has the most law-abiding drivers, with only 0.71% having points on their licenses.

“Reckless driving endangers lives,” says a spokesperson for Claims.co.uk. 

“In fact, there were 133,443 casualties due to road collisions in the year ending June 2023, according to GOV.UK. 

“Plymouth’s PL3 is the number one most hazardous driving capital, although it is interesting to see postcodes from across the nation make the top 10. This indicates that drivers should be vigilant in both larger cities and smaller towns.”
