Mitsubishi is set to return to the UK market in 2026, focusing on crossovers, SUVs, and modern 4WD tech, though a new Evo isn’t expected.

Mitsubishi is returning to the UK - but don’t expect a new Evo. It’s likely to be all about crossovers and SUVs.

After leaving the UK market five years ago, Mitsubishi is set to make a comeback. Technically, it’s not the manufacturer itself leading the charge, but its long-time importer, International Motors Ltd, which has decided to reintroduce Mitsubishi models to the UK.

These cars will be selected from Mitsubishi’s global lineup, so a fresh Evo isn’t on the cards. Instead, International Motors says it will focus on bringing Mitsubishi’s latest innovations and four-wheel-drive tech back to British buyers.

That suggests the new-generation Outlander could return, and we may see the latest L200 pickup - sold as the Triton elsewhere - which got a major refresh in 2023. There’s also a chance the UK will get some of Mitsubishi’s hybrid or electric crossovers currently on sale in Europe, many of which are rebadged Renaults following the brands’ 2023 alliance.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but customer deliveries are set to restart in summer 2026.

“We’re delighted to bring exciting new Mitsubishi vehicles back to our loyal UK customers,” said Sharon Townsend, head of Mitsubishi Motors UK. “Support for the brand has stayed strong in recent years, and by building on our trusted aftersales network and retailer partners, we’re committed to delivering an exceptional ownership experience.”

Still… bring back the Evo and the sales would take care of themselves.
