The Government’s Advisory Fuel Rates reveal how much to reclaim from your employer if you spend your own money on fuel for a company car, from June 2022. These rates per mile cover business trips only so you cannot claim for your personal mileage. In addition, these rates have been updated – as they are quarterly – to ensure they continue to reflect the prices at the pump. There are rates for petrol, diesel, hybrid, fully electric, and LPG cars.

June 2022 rates for petrol cars are higher than the months immediately beforehand. This is to reflect the increased fuel prices which have reached new highs. The rate increased by one pence for cars up to 1,400cc, two pence for cars from 1,401 to 2,000cc, and three pence for cars with engines larger than 2,000cc.

Diesel rates have also risen compared to recent months. The rises are two pence for cars up to 1,600cc, three pence for cars from 1,601 to 2,000cc, and three pence for vehicles larger than 2,000cc.
Advisory Fuel Rates: hybrid cars
For Advisory Fuel Rate purposes, hybrids that have an electric motor and a combustion engine are treated like petrol or diesel vehicles. A hybrid that has a petrol engine up to 1,400cc, for example, has a rate is 14 pence per mile.
Advisory Fuel Rate: electric cars
The Advisory Fuel Rate for electric cars is five pence per mile, as of June 2022. This is the same as the months immediately preceding.
