10 Hair-Raising Driver Fails
We’ve dug up 10 short pieces of dashcam footage that will get you laughing, and then thinking…
10. Humps Ahead
If you’re approached by a large, peaceful mammal at the roadside, check your mirrors before deciding to randomly slam into reverse. Alternatively, don’t feel obliged to stop in the middle of the road and instead just keep driving...
9. ‘Your package has been delayed’
If your Christmas present still hasn’t shown up yet, it might be in a muddy field next to this level crossing...
8. ‘Professional drivers are the best on the road…’
Mirrors… use them.
7. Quadruple front flip… 10/10
It’s hard to imagine what a warm, sandy beach is like at this time of year… Turns out, not always great fun.
6. Show-off
Subaru owners love to display their 4-wheel-drive abilities when the conditions get tricky, but this is just too far! In fact, no, I’m not giving the driver credit, that was a fluke. Even if your car has 4 wheel drive and a rally pedigree, drive to the conditions.
5. Incredible Reactions...
Do you reckon you could smash your car into reverse and get out of the way as quick as this chap?
4. Change of underwear needed… immediately.
Credit where credit is due: all drivers did very well to avoid a crash here… Except the idiot in the pick-up who pulled out in front of an artic lorry.
3. Everyone dodging everyone
There’s not much to say about this one that the video doesn’t say for itself. Don’t overtake trucks when there is oncoming traffic, particularly on an icy road… who’d have thought it? Well done to the camera car and the vehicle behind, although the latter should have probably kept a greater stopping distance.
2. Don’t think we were going to let cyclists go by unscathed...
It’s always risky saying a bad word about cyclists, because they tend to be a rather protective bunch, which I understand, but do be aware that they simply never, ever jump red-lights, or sail across zebra crossings, or cycle on the path with no consideration for pedestrians… never. Only motorists are dangerous road users, honestly, countless cyclists have assured me.
1. And we’ll leave you with this eye opener.
This motorcyclist was unfortunate enough to come across someone with no understanding of how to use their mirrors, but fortunate enough to have a grassy bank to tumble onto. Watch out for vulnerable road users at this time of the year, they demand your attention, you’re the one in the 1-tonne metal box.
