Smartly finished and powered by one of the better diesel engines in its class Ford look set to change their track record with 4x4’s and have now produced a desirable alternative for 4x4 customers with the Ford Kuga.
The Ford Kuga is powered by a 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi 134bhp diesel engine with standard particulate filter and a six-speed manual transmission or a 198bhp 2.5-litre petrol unit that’s available with the six-speed manual or an automatic. The 2.0 TDCi engine returns 44.1mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are 169g/km. If you choose the Ford Kuga 2WD model these figures are improved to 46.3mpg and 159g/km. Both diesel and petrol engines are impressively refined, keeping any noise or vibration down to a minimum.
The Ford Kuga offers two trim levels; the first is Zetec which comes with keyless start, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, ESP stability control, anti lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and an MP3 connector to plug into your iPod. The Ford Kuga Titanium trim level gets part leather trim, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, cruise control, blue tinted glass and dual climate control. Inside the Ford Kuga good quality materials have been used on the upper dash and door tops and hard plastics used lower down aimed at durability. Prices for the Ford Kuga start at £20,445 rising to £25,745.
