Formula One drivers enjoy the speed and power on the race track during the F1 season but when it comes to the daily commute so to speak what do they really drive?
Jenson Button’s 'ho-hum' daily drive is a McLaren MP4-12C. He also own a very special 520bhp Mercedes-Benz C-Class DR 520 one of only 20 made, he has also purchased other trinkets over the years including a Bugatti Veyron, Nissan GT-R, Ford GT, Porsche Carrera GT, Audi RS6 Avant, BMW M5, an Enzo, F430 Spider, 360 and 550 Maranello.
Like Button, Hamilton has been given his own McLaren MP4-12C and is also sponsored by Mercedes for a GL 320 CDI. Hamilton says that the Mercedes gigantic diesel 4x4 is just about the most comfortable road car he has driven and has the most awesome 21-inch AMG wheels.
Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari has swathed himself in Spanish colours by becoming a brand ambassador for Seat. In return, the Spanish offshoot of the VW Group has furnished him with a 260bhp Seat Leon Cupra R. The Seat Leon Cupra R is one of Seat’s quickest accelerating models capable of 0-62mph in just 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. The 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged engine has recently been modified together with a revised high pressure injection pump within the Leon’s six speed manual gearbox.
The 2011 F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel recently had a car named after him, the Infiniti FX50 S Sebastian Vettel edition. The German driver was also gifted a Mercedes-Benz SL65 Black Edition after winning the 2009 Abu Dhabi GP. Other cars in his garage include a BMW X3, BMW 320d, Fiat 500 and a Volkswagen T5 van.
