Rent-a-car company Hertz have added electric cars to their fleet of vehicles in London. Hertz now have two Mitsubishi i-Miev’s available for customers to rent, with plans to add more to its fleets around the UK later in the year.

Customers who rent one of the Mitsubishi i-Miev’s will be able to charge the vehicle at one of the available 16 charging located across London. These Locations include Heathrow, London City Airport and Uxbridge. The fully-electric vehicles have a range of 90 miles and on a 30 minute charge can regain 80% of their power.

Neil Cunninigham, the Managing Director of Hertz in the UK said the scheme will be user-friendly.

"We have a technical support network to make is easy for customers who have never driven an electric car before."

"Drivers can speak to our care-centre directly from the hands-free phone kit if they need help with controls, or want to know where the nearest charging station is."

Hertz already have electric vehicles operating in cities across the USA, and are aiming to have more available across major cities in Europe.
