It goes on sale with deliveries expected before the end of the year.

The GLB goes on sale in the UK available as either a five-seater or a seven-seater, with either front-wheel-drive or ‘4MATIC’ 4-wheel-drive. There are 4 trim levels for prospective buyers to choose from and 3 engines, although there will likely be more engine options added to the lineup further down the line.

So, what’s included?

The standard ‘Sport’ spec of the GLB already proves to be particularly well equipped. Entry-level models come with plenty of driver aids, such as adjustable driving settings, comfort suspension, LED headlights and taillights, 180-degree reversing camera. Comfort and luxury features are included such as heated front seats, leather upholstery, 7-inch digital cockpit and a 7-inch central touch screen which has the new ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant. On the exterior, big 18” alloys are included as well as aluminium roof rails.

Upgrade to the AMG line model and those 18” wheels grow to 19”, then exterior body styling becomes more aggressive, the windows get tinted and the upholstery changes to half Artico leather and half microfibre… very sporty indeed.

One up from that AMG Line is the Premium model which is more luxurious than it is sporty. In this trim line, the GLB gets ambient mood lighting which is fully adjustable and boasts over 64 colours which it can scroll through progressively. Electric folding and dimming exterior and interior mirrors are added for the Premium too, but the standout feature is the improved 10.25-inch infotainment screen and 10.25-inch virtual cockpit screen. These are high-res, high-performance and highly-customisable screens which host some of the coolest features you’ll find in any modern car. Augmented-reality Sat-Nav is introduced whereby the forward-facing cameras will display the road ahead and instructional arrows will appear, directing the driver down the correct route. Very, very impressive.

The creme-de-la-creme of the GLB lineup will be the AMG Line Premium Plus which basically combines all the sporty-specifications of the AMG Line with all the comfort and luxury tech from the Premium Line, with a few more additional features added on top such as Multi-beam LED headlamps with high-beam assist (which prevents you from blinding oncoming traffic), a panoramic roof, traffic sign recognition and a drivers assistance pack.

The GLB goes on sale with prices starting from £34,200 for the GLB 200 Sport model, rising to £45,950 for the GLB 220d 4MATIC AMG Line Premium Plus with the optional 7 seats. Will there be a full-blooded AMG model added to the lineup at some point? Probably, but we’ll have to wait and see. Deliveries are expected to begin in the UK in December so it won’t be long before you’ll be seeing the new GLB enter showrooms. Book a test drive as soon as possible to ensure you are one of the first to test-drive Mercedes’ latest SUV as soon as it is available.
