It was recently reported the new Audi A1 would be skipping the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show but a new report reveals the Audi A1 will be back on for the show. The concept is a three door, two seater designed as a premium product with a hybrid powertrain rather than a cheap and cheerful city car.
Audis take on the Mini will finally kick off production in October. Head of Audis Brussels plant Alfons Dintner confirmed production will being after a five week shutdown August. The three door will be the first to arrive in showrooms followed by the five door sportback.
Combined with stop/start technology, Audi claims a cut in fuel consumption of 15%, so this car does 57.7mpg and produces just 112g/km of CO2. Audi claim a 0-62mph time in 7.8secs and a top speed of 126mph. At low speeds the car can be powered solely by the electric power. The lithium-ion battery provides a 62-mile range when it runs on pure electric power, and can recharge from any power socket.
