The new Volkswagen up! is the smallest new Volkswagen but proves to be more spacious than it looks. Employees at Volkswagen Communications made an attempt at an unofficial world record and managed to fit 15 women and one man into the car, two in the boot, one on the dashboard, seven on the rear bench, four on the front seats and two in the footwells.

The Volkswagen up! is 3.54 metres long and 1.64 metres wide, it is one of the smallest four-seat cars. It will be launched in the spring of 2012 and is available to order now with prices starting from £7995.

The Volkswagen up! is available with two 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine options as well as a BlueMotion technology version. It has three doors and three trim levels; Take up!, Move up! and High up! plus a special edition the up! black and up! white. Standard specification for the Take up! includes body-coloured bumpers, daytime running lights, front and side head/thorax airbags, the new RCD 215 CD radio with aux-in, rear ISOFIX points, and 14-inch steel wheels.
