Kia’s new Sorento has been given a sleeker upmarket look. It can be ordered as a spacious five seater with a cavernous load bay or as a seven seater with two chairs that fold up from the boot floor. For maximum versatility when accommodating people and cargo, the Kia Sorento’s second row seat is split 60/40 and the optional third row seat is split 50/50. These seats’ backrests fold almost flat to extend available boot space. Luggage space is impressive thanks to moving the tailgate back by 70mm. When using the vehicle as a five-seater, with the third row seats folded down (where fitted), total capacity is now 531 litres which is 96 litres more than the previous model. Luggage capacity with all seats upright in the Kia Sorento 7-seater is 111 litres.
The Kia Sorento is now available with a 2.2 diesel engine which will appeal to the majority of buyers. Front and four wheel drive diesels will be offered averaging a healthy 43.5mpg and 42.8mpg for the four wheel drive. Both options command a 25% company car tax rating.
The list of standard fit safety equipment for the Kia Sorento includes stability control and window airbags that run the length of the cabin. The Kia Sorento has also achieved a maximum five star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests. Prices for the Kia Sorento 2.4 two wheel drive start at £19,000 and the 2.2 TD two wheel drive at £20,000 add on another thousand for the four wheel diesel.
