Volvo Cars Heritage will display some of its most striking machinery at the Footman James Classic Motor Show from November 11th - 13th 2011. Highlights will include the 1961 P1800 with its 2.5-litre DOHC four-cylinder Aston Martin prototype engine. This magnificent machine was created for test purposes but failed to became a production reality. What a pity. It is now owned by Mr Beat Roos of Roos Engineering in Switzerland. I suspect it makes the journey to work thrilling – what a contrast to the workman-like V60.

The Volvo P958-X1 Prototype will also make an appearance at the show. What can we say about this machine? Its lines are magnificent and very few cars have its unmistakable x-factor. It has been on tour recently and enthusiasts who see it at Birmingham may find its designer and creator, Pelle Petterson, polishing the shining paintwork. Other cars will include the ST1 – the famous white 1800 of the 'Saint'. There will also be a Jenson- built P1800, several sporty little numbers, plus a rally-guise 1800S. What a tantalising collection. If these cars were mine I would keep them in a bunker wrapped in cotton wool.
