A Ford Mustang Mach-E set a new Guinness World Record by driving 569.64 miles across England on a single charge, surpassing the previous record by six miles for a production electric vehicle.

A new world record for the longest drive by an electric car on a single charge has just been set.

A Ford Mustang Mach-E covered 569.64 miles (916.74 km) across England, breaking the previous record by just six miles to earn the Guinness World Record for a production electric vehicle you can buy today.

The record attempt was a collaboration between Webfleet Mobility Solutions, Bridgestone tyres, and the AA. The Ford Mustang Mach-E, driven by Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke with co-pilot Richard Parker, set a new standard for EV performance.

The drive took 24 hours and covered a mix of urban and rural roads across Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Cambridgeshire to mimic real-world driving conditions.

The car's Bridgestone tyres, designed for low rolling resistance, helped extend the range of the £60,000 91kWh Mach-E, which achieved an impressive average of 6.25 miles per kilowatt hour.

Although the battery was expected to last from 2 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, Sam and Kevin managed to keep driving for another 21 miles after the battery hit 0%. In total, the car's range lasted over 24 hours, finally stopping at 2:09 a.m. on Sunday, July 28.

The record attempt was thoroughly documented with verified video footage, odometer readings, GPS data, and battery level monitoring from Webfleet, and the AA-provided support vehicles throughout the drive.

The new record barely edged out the previous one, set in Hangzhou, China, at 563.97 miles.

While the overall longest distance driven in an EV on a single charge is 628 miles, achieved by the Mercedes EQXX concept car earlier this year, that vehicle doesn't qualify for the record since it's only a prototype.

Both Clarke and Booker are no strangers to Guinness World Records, holding multiple titles for fuel efficiency and energy consumption in electric vehicles.

Booker said, "Breaking this record has been an exhilarating journey and a powerful demonstration of what electric vehicles can achieve.

"It is incredible to see how far we have come with EV technology and efficiency. We hope this inspires more people to consider electric vehicles for their everyday travel."

Clarke added, "Driving the Ford Mustang Mach-E for such a distance on a single charge was an extraordinary experience. The vehicle's efficiency and the support from Webfleet’s technology made this possible."
