Labour Expands £650m Electric Car Grant to Include New Ford, Mini, VW Models – Full List

Labour has announced that more electric vehicles (EVs) are now eligible for the Electric Car Grant, letting drivers save up to £3,750 on a new EV.

The Citroën e-C5 Aircross Long Range has been added to the scheme’s top-tier incentive, offering motorists a practical, high-range option. This version of the e-C5 Aircross comes with a 97 kWh battery, giving up to 422 miles of electric driving on a single charge.

Since the grant was launched in the summer, over 30,000 drivers have already benefited. Today, more than 40 EV models from popular brands like Ford, Volkswagen, and Nissan qualify for the scheme.

Keir Mather, Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister, welcomed the latest additions, highlighting how the grant puts £3,750 back into drivers’ pockets.

Electric vehicle sales continue to grow. In October alone, 36,830 new EVs were sold, giving electric cars over a 25% market share, while petrol vehicles fell to 44.4%.

Greg Taylor, managing director at Citroën UK, said the grant helps boost confidence in switching to affordable, practical EVs:

"The e-C5 Aircross Long Range is the first vehicle of its size to receive the full grant, reflecting our commitment to making EVs accessible for everyone. We welcome the government’s support, and are proud that Citroën is leading the way in electrification."
