New Jaecoo 5 revealed: Stylish electric SUV joins UK market this summer

Jaecoo, the new Chinese car brand that recently entered the UK market, has unveiled its latest model – the Jaecoo 5 – at Auto Shanghai 2025. This new battery-electric SUV enters an increasingly crowded segment, competing with models like the Ford Puma Gen-E, Kia EV3, and Suzuki eVitara.

So, what sets it apart? From a distance, the Jaecoo 5 bears a strong resemblance to the Range Rover Evoque. Like its larger sibling, the Jaecoo 7, it features slim, rectangular headlights, a bold front grille, and clean bodywork. Its coupe-style roofline and rear design echo the styling of JLR’s compact luxury SUV.

Inside, the cabin design is more familiar than futuristic. The layout recalls elements of the Ford Explorer and BYD Atto 3, with a high centre console and a large portrait touchscreen taking centre stage. The only interior image released so far shows white leather upholstery, suggesting a focus on a premium feel.

Performance details are limited, but Jaecoo is targeting a range of around 250 miles. Given the brand’s ties to the Chery Group – which also owns Omoda – it's likely the 5 shares a platform with the Omoda E5. If so, we can expect a single 201bhp electric motor, 0–62mph in about seven seconds, and charging speeds of up to 80kW.

Jaecoo has confirmed that the 5 will be launched in the UK, with first deliveries expected in August 2025.
