What is Glass’s Information Services?
Glass’s Information Services provides data to: manufacturers, retailers, insurers, fleet managers, body shops, salvage agents and others – including used car valuations. Its focus, therefore, is serving businesses within the motor industry rather than motorists themselves.
How to get a used car valuation
The Glass’s Car Guide App provides the valuation via a phone or tablet. You pay a subscription first, though. Once installed and connected to the internet, enter the vehicle’s registration and mileage to continue. The former helps the system identify the precise car. If offline, the vehicle can be selected manually via the menus.
The key information is then presented via a simple interface and the car is saved to your search history so you can look back without starting a new search. You can also review historic valuations – if applicable – for the last couple of years. The App has further capabilities which include:
- Contains 65,000 cars
- Updated monthly
- Values back to 1999
- Trade value movement indicator
- Model descriptions
- Month and year of introductions
- Date of registrations
- Insurance ratings
- CO2 emissions
- Model modifications and dating features
- Limited and special editions
- Android 4 compatible (and newer)
- Apple iOS7 compatible (and newer)
- Optimised to require as little memory as practical
Vehicle condition
The Glass’s used car valuation is partly based on condition. Pick:
- Grade Hi (excellent condition)
- Grade Av (average condition)
- Grade Lo (below average condition)
